Migiel Awarded the Howard R. Marraro Prize by the MLA

We are excited to announce that the Modern Language Association (MLA) has awarded this year’s Howard R. Marraro Prize to Marilyn Migiel for her book The Ethical Dimension of the Decameron. This biennial prize was established in 1973 and honors an outstanding book in the field of Italian literature. Dr. Migiel’s latest book, The Ethical Dimension of the Decameron, is described by the prize committee as “A brilliant reading of Boccaccio’s Decameron… [that] offers fresh perspectives on authorial authenticity, multiplicity of interpretations, and readers’ reception.” Furthermore the prize committee writes: “Brilliantly written and richly annotated, this book revisits a canonical text from a new perspective and promises to revive its critical debate for new generations of scholars.”
